The Privacy Statement outlines how we collect, use and disclose personal information in accordance with New Zealand privacy laws. If you have any questions, please contact us by submitting our privacy enquiry form here.
Collection of personal information
Cricket Nation
Cricket Nation is the online members club for cricket fans in New Zealand. When you join Cricket Nation by signing up on NZC’s or any of its Major Associations’ websites, we collect your personal data such as your name and email address. You may also choose to provide us with additional information online at any point during your membership.
Purchase data
We also collect your data if you make a purchase from one of NZC’s official third party providers such as Ticketek or Mighty Ape (via the NZC online store). This includes your personal data along with details of what you have purchased. We do not collect or store personal financial information.
Participation data
If you participate or are involved in delivering cricket at any level, your data will be collected by NZC, its Associations and Clubs as required to fulfil their administrative needs. This data may be subsequently used for statistical reporting and to contact you via email with relevant news and marketing content.
Community Player data
NZC collects personal data via cricHQ for the purposes of the general administration of the game, including statistical analysis and research; and the promotion of the game of cricket, including direct marketing communications. Your personal information will also be held by the cricket club for which you play and the District and Major Associations to which that club is affiliated, for similar purposes. Live scoring data may also be used for the purposes of coaching development, talent identification and development of the game of cricket in New Zealand.
Use of personal information
If you choose to provide us with any of the personal information outlined above, it will be used to deliver the information, products or services, communications, competition entries and offers you request or which we think may be of interest to you (subject to any preferences you have indicated). We may also disclose your personal information to organisations involved in cricket or sporting initiatives in New Zealand, such as the Major Associations or Districts or companies we have engaged to carry out activities on our behalf.
Information retention
The personal information we collect will be retained until you request for it to be removed.
Security and storage
We will ensure that all of the information you supply is held securely in accordance with data protection laws and regulations. We take appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorised access, improper use or disclosure, unauthorised modification or unlawful destruction or accidental loss of personal information.
Access to your data
You are entitled to obtain confirmation of whether or not we hold any personal information about you and to obtain access to that information. You may request the correction of your personal information at any time. We will inform you of any steps taken by us in response to your request for a correction. If you have any questions about your personal information or want to amend your details you can contact us by submitting a privacy enquiry here.
Requesting erasure of your personal information
You can ask us to delete or remove your personal information in some circumstances, such as where we no longer need it, if you withdraw your consent (where applicable) or you validly object to the processing. If you are entitled to erasure we will comply with your request as soon as reasonably practicable. Note, even after our reasonable efforts to erase, there may be some residual information that could remain within our databases and other records which is not removed. We may also need to retain certain information for recordkeeping purposes, for compliance with our legal obligations, for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims and/or to complete any transactions started before your request is received. If we have shared your personal information with others, we will let them know about your request where reasonably possible.
Data portability
You have the right, in certain circumstances, to obtain personal information you’ve provided us with (in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format) and to reuse it elsewhere. You may also ask us to transfer this data to a third-party of your choice where this is technically practicable.
Withdrawing consent
If we rely on your consent as our legal basis for processing your personal information, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.
Restricting processing
You can ask us to ‘block’ or suppress the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances, such as where you contest the accuracy of that personal information or you object to us doing so. If you are entitled to restriction and if we’ve shared your personal information with others, we will let them know about the restriction where it is reasonably possible for us to do so.
