Super Smash Xmas/New Years Recap
The Canterbury KINGS and MAGICIANS both remain in the hunt for a finals spot in the 2021/22 Dream11 Super Smash
The Red and Black have had a busy Christmas and New Year’s break, playing Otago on Boxing Day, Central Districts on New Year’s Eve, and Auckland on the 7th of January with Canterbury taking 4 out of a possible 6 wins across their double headers.
The KINGS are currently nestled in the top spot on the ladder while the MAGICIANS are locked in a tight battle with the Auckland HEARTS for the third finals qualification spot.
Cam Fletcher has continued to impress and is yet to be dismissed in 2022, amassing 105 runs over two innings and striking it at 187.36.

Henry Shipley has also continued to prove his value across the shorter format after a blazing start in the Plunket Shield. The allrounder is also yet to be dismissed in 2022, scoring 76 runs at an absurd strike rate of 261.36 and taking 3 wickets.
Left-Arm quick Edward Nuttall sits atop the wickets leader board alongside Seth Rance, with 13 wickets – although Nuttall has a game in hand over the Central Stags veteran.
The KINGS will be pushing for a home final as they go into their last 3 pool games against Auckland, Northern Districts and Otago.
The MAGICIANS have started to string some performances together, with Amy Satterthwaite finding some good form against the HEARTS, scoring 71 in heart-breaking loss, falling short of Auckland’s total by one run in an important mid-table clash.
Lea Tahuhu has continued to make her mark with the ball since returning to bowling duties, boasting the second-best economy rate (4.50) and the second-best dot ball percentage (66.67%) in the women’s competition.
The MAGICIANS will be hunting down the final qualification spot to give them a chance of repeating last season’s heroics against the Wellington BLAZE
The KINGS and MAGICIANS have a week’s rest before taking on the Auckland HEARTS and ACES at Hagley Oval.
