Canterbury well represented in NZC Match Official appointments
The Canterbury region is well represented in NZC’s 2024/25 Match Official appointments announced today. Led by Kim Cotton (NZC National Umpires Panel) and Trudy Anderson (NZC Match Referee Panel) it also includes aspiring Female Umpire Programme graduate, Alyson Shipley from Canterbury Country, who has earn’t her first appointment to the NZC Emerging Women’s Umpire Panel.
Shipley joins fellow AFUP graduates Christelle High (Northern Districts) and Tina Semmens (Auckland) on the panel – signalling a new wave of female umpires, supported through the umpire development programme.
Shipley expressed her delight to be appointed to the panel and credited the Aspiring Female Umpire Programme for her development.
“I am delighted to have been appointed to the NZC Emerging Women’s Umpire Panel,” said Shipley.
“Thanks go to everyone who has encouraged and supported me, my local umpires and, over the last 3 years, everyone I have met through the Aspiring Female Umpire Programme”
“The programme has given me the opportunity to meet so many umpires and other experts who have willingly passed on their knowledge and expertise and provided me with guidance that has allowed me to progress my skills to the next level.”
