Hagley Oval has once again been recognised by New Zealand Cricket by winning the International long form pitch of the year for the 2017-18 season.

For Hagley Oval to host only one Test Match this season and to receive this award is an outstanding achievement. The match between the BLACKCAPS and England was the perfect way to end the summer and a game that will be remembered for many years to come.

Head Groundsman, Rupert Bool said “to see five days of excellent test cricket was extremely rewarding. The players produced a great spectacle for the city and it was a superb advertisement of test cricket between two quality sides which went down to the wire. You couldn’t ask for much more.”

We congratulate and thank Rupert Bool and his team for their superb efforts this summer in producing top-class wickets across all forms of the game and it is great to see them recognised at the top level by NZC.

NZC GM Grounds & Facilities, Ian McKendry said “the turf management team at Hagley Oval who are responsible for the preparation of cricket surface there do an exceptional job and this award gives NZC the formal opportunity to recognise these guys”

The pitch of the year awards are based on information and data collated from the feedback received from player surveys, match reports and ICC reports over the 2017-18 cricket season.
