Formed in 1877, the Canterbury Cricket Board is responsible for overseeing and guiding the development of cricket in the Canterbury region. The Board sets the strategic direction and ensures that cricket at all levels—from grassroots to the elite—is nurtured and supported. The Board works closely with key stakeholders such as District Associations, the Canterbury Cricket Trust and New Zealand Cricket to promote participation, performance, and a love for the game across the region.
In addition to its governance and leadership role, the Board oversees the financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and long-term planning of cricket in the region. This includes supporting the Canterbury Men’s and Women’s teams, enhancing facilities, fostering young talent, and ensuring that cricket remains accessible and inclusive to all. Through its work, the Board aims to strengthen Canterbury’s position as a leading association in New Zealand, contributing to both local and national success.
